कुछ इश्क़ कहे नहीं जाते, बस राख की गंध में सांस लेते हैं। वो थी नंदा—राजघराने की बेटी, सिंहासन की उत्तराधिकारी, पर दिल से एक बग़ावती। और वो था वेद—श्मशान का शांत तपस्वी, जो ज़िन्दगी को हर रोज़ आग में जाते देखता था। महल की छत से दिखता था वो श्मशान घाट, और हर दिन, नंदा की नज़रें वहीं टिक जाया करतीं। जहाँ सबकुछ ख़त्म होता था, वहीं कुछ अनकहा शुरू हो रहा था। नंदा ने कभी वेद से बात नहीं की—ना ज़ुबान से, ना पत्र से। पर उनकी निगाहें... वो मौन प्रेम की कविताएँ थीं। श्मशान में चिता सुलगती, और उन लपटों के पीछे… एक दृष्टि मिलती, एक साँस अटकती, एक धड़कन धीमे से काँपती। नंदा को वेद की राख में लिपटी सादगी मोह लेने लगी थी। और वेद... उसकी आँखों में वो ख़ामोशी पढ़ता था, जो सैकड़ों ग्रंथों में नहीं मिलती। ये प्रेम अलग था। ये शाही इज़हार नहीं था। ये कोई चिट्ठियों वाला इश्क़ नहीं था। ये राख से लिखा, सन्नाटों में बोया, और नज़रों से पढ़ा गया इश्क़ था। क्या ये मौन रिश्ता कभी नाम पाएगा? या ये प्रेम भी उन्हीं चिताओं की आग में घुल जाएगा, जिनके बीच वो पनपा? यह तो बस शुरुआत है... अभी कई रातें बाकी हैं, जहाँ इश्क़ चुपचाप राख ओढ़े खड़ा है.
