Mirza Ghalib, the most popular among urdu poets, has enjoyed a large fan following although his poems contain many words of Persian origin making his work a bit difficult to understand. Quite a few famous critics and poets have written books containing explanatory notes on Mirza Ghalib’s poems. These books are more than sufficient to understand his works. However, explanatory notes fall short of capturing the rhyme and rhythm of the original. The Author has attempted to present the sentiments of the original urdu poem in Hindi poetry form.
