This novel has been written keeping in mind the horrific gas tragedy that took place on the intervening night of 2-3 December 1984 at Union Carbide, an industrial unit in Bhopal. Most of the characters mentioned in the novel's plot represent the people living in the slums around the industrial unit who were victims of that gas accident and who have suffered and suffered the effects of that alleged chemical accident. In the novel, every effort has been made to present the basic spirit of the colloquial and lifestyle of the people living in those slums or slums. As such, some sentences or words spoken by the characters may seem obscene or inappropriate to the readers. But keeping in view the social and family background of such characters and their personal habits and interests, the words quoted by them have been deliberately kept intact so that their character features remain unblemished, clear and accurate. Therefore, it would be appropriate to examine those parts of the novel on the basis of the overall effect of the plot.
