King Janak goes on a quest to save his kingdom and returns with Sita, a gift to humankind from Bhudevi, the Mother Earth. Unaware of her origins, Sita grows up in Mithila, discovering within her a deep love for the natural world. In the night when everyone is asleep, she goes for midnight adventures on her faithful owl, Ulluka and makes friends with Mintak, an eager monkey and Sapi, a kind Yaksha. They introduce her to a fascinating world of supernatural beings, hidden from the human eye. When Sita finds herself face to face with the cursed Rakshasas - Tadaka and her sons, Maricha and Subahu, she must make a choice, and on her choice rests the future of all the species on the planet.
