Traditionally the Gayatri Mantra is initiated in the Yagnopavit ceremony, also called Upanayanam, by a Master to his disciples in a gurukul.

The 24 Syllabic Verse -The Gayatri Mantra is traditionally known as the verse consisting of 24 syllables i.e., 24 distinct sounds. These 24 syllables are arranged in triplets of 8 sounds.
