Mei Lai earns a law degree, travels to the U.S., marries a Chinese-American and gives birth to a daughter.
Sub-plots involve family and friends as Mei Lai finds her son who marries her daughter. The reader feels the agony of the consequences if the young couple learns the truth of having the same mother.
AVI ALMEIDA, Ph.D. – Born in Bombay, India in 1936, naturalized U.S. citizen. Received a doctorate from the University of New York at Buffalo. Before retiring, was President and CEO of a social service agency, licensed in social services; also worked in the field of financial services as a Registered Representative and Registered Principal. Dr. Almeida enjoyed teaching both at the college and at the doctoral levels. Also, with his wife, Nirmal, co-taught courses in “Primordial Sound Meditation” and “The Magic of Healing,” a course in Ayurveda, at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, as well as in several hospitals in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
NIRMAL ALMEIDA – Born in Chicago, Illinois, USA in 1938, was a Registered Representative and Registered Principal in the field of financial services, but the work she loved best was teaching with her husband, Avi, because Meditation and Ayurveda became more of a focus in her life.
LILLIAN SHAPERY – Born in Detroit, Michigan, a successful business-woman of diverse talents. Loving the Chinese culture and the people, traveled to Hong Kong more than a dozen times. Desired to write a novel from her travels and experiences in Hong Kong, which she shared with her daughter, Nirmal and son-in-law, Dr. Avi Almeida. Unfortunately, Lillian passed away leaving to Avi and Nirmal the task of transforming some of her ideas into this novel.
Avi and Nirmal are now retired and living in Goa, India.
