Ramayana is a Sanskrit epic ithihasa, that happened like this, story of Indian Subcontinent. It finely reflects the Indian values to fullest extent. Naturally, most revered across the country since thousands of years. This story of the Rama & Sita was narrated by a contemporary writer called Valmiki Maharshi. Aptly, he is considered as the adi-kavi, the first poet ever existed. And the Ramayana as the adi-kavyam, the first poetry. It was written in poetic scale called slokas counting to 24000. The beauty and power of the Ramayana was, through generations, stayed as it is with negligible changes, to its text or form. The narration is so perfect, authentic with full of poetic beauty. Hence, it is called Srimadramayana.
This being so, there are thousands of derivatives, translations etc in all most all the languages hundreds of times happened, specifically in Indic Languages. So many of such Ramayana stood the testing of time and availble even after hundreds of years of their existing. One of such great Telugu works is Molla Ramayana, written by poetess Molla, called with reverence Mollamaba, of CE 16 century. She had told her Ramayana in an abridged form. The poetic meters called Padyams (poems in Telugu) and prose were well mixed, with typical style of ease of understanding for all people. It may be astonishing, in view of the caliber reflecting in this, to note that even reference to none of her other works available.
In this “Molla Telugu Ramayanam”, for better user friendlynes, added meaning of certain words, laghu tika in present day colloquial words in same Telugu language. Added, distinct marking for all the poems with Padyam specifics called Yati & Prasa. These add on values are useful for better appreciation of the Literature.
Plese do enjoy this beutiful book. And get blessings of Lord Rama.
