Bhim Raj Garg was born in Giddarbaha (Punjab) and has retired from Reserve Bank of India. He is a member of various banking committees. He has been researching Punjabi films since 1983 and is considered a leading authority on the history of Punjabi cinema. The authors of the well-known Encyclopedia of Indian Cinema turned to him for their research about Punjabi Film history. He has written numerous article and given many interviews on the subject. In preparation of this book, he has interviewed many stalwarts of Punjabi cinema and visited many libraries and archives. His article 'Punjabi Cinema Di Pauni Sadi' is well-known and appreciated by other researchers.
