Description

This is the whole story. If we believe and feel that the Guru is there - even if intangible at first - waiting for us, and if we go to meet him, he will take us in his arms - divine union. Master said,

"The Guru will show you how to behold, through the portals of your devotion to him, the vast territories of God's infinite love.

And those who never met the sublime Guru in the flesh, remember his words, "I know those souls who are really interested, and I know those souls who are destined to come in the future and who will follow this path steadfastly. I am with them, and they are with me."

"Even a wise man attains Me only after many births - because a yogi aware of My omnipresence is rare. These words have a wonderfully cryptic meaning: "Wise men attain Me only after many births, because it is so seldom that even a sage understands that I - the Indweller in the tiniest atom and in the soul of man - am the Nearest of the near, attainable instantly!" Gita pp. 694,695

"God is simple. Everything else is complex," wrote our Guru in the Autobiography of a Yogi. So, it is with the spiritual path. The more simple we make it, the faster we go. And this is the whole essence of the spiritual inner path as I see it: Leading the life force within through the help of the techniques of Kriya Yoga, and along with the life force our feeling, will, and our whole consciousness is led inward, to where God is waiting in the form of the beloved Guru - waiting to receive us.

May that divine Guru be ever blessed who has shown us such a simple and direct way to God - that Guru who is none other than God, that Infinite Love Himself.

About the Author

Bro. Anandmoy :-

Then my first spiritual tests came. I could not keep my new discovery of Yoganandaji's book to myself. I showed it to one of the older residents who was a cousin of mine. She told me that she had read the Autobiography of a Yogi and had given it to Mrs. Wright, who was an admirer of the Russian mystic Gurjieff, and she had said that Paramahansaji's book was very badly written, that the English was terrible, and that its writer, therefore, could not be of any value either. But that could not shake me. I could not judge the quality of the English in the book, of course, but I thought, so what if it is badly written. The main thing is that he knows what he is talking about.

One of the students had come from Ceylon. I showed the book to him. He looked through it and when he saw that Paramahansaji has a center in Hollywood, he laughed and said, “Oh, no! Don't get involved with him. He is in Hollywood, he must be a fake. He is just after the money of the movie people. Besides, no true yogi would come to America anyway!" That too did not disturb me. I sent for the Master's written Lessons, eager to learn how to meditate.

Then I showed the book to another student, an American. He read a few lines and exclaimed, "Oh, what excellent English!" Then he handed the book back to me and said, "Well, I do not want to read it, I am not interested in this sort of thing." I could not believe it - that anyone could be so indifferent, or tear the book down out of jealousy like Mrs. Wright. So I kept my newly-found treasure to myself and concentrated on my own efforts.

Some months later, after I had learned a little more English, I made a trip to Los Angeles to see the Master. As I entered the grounds at Mother Center I was over-awed by the vibrations of peace. I rang the doorbell at the main entrance of the administration building. An elderly lady came to greet me, (Sister Revati, as I later found out) and showed me around. First the chapel - there was nobody in it to my great surprise. Then the printing department, which was on the other side of the main hall – and which did not interest me at all - after all, I had come to see the Master. And then she led me through the main office.
