About the Author

Dr Aparna Sreevatsa is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at Sahyadri Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Shimoga, Karnataka. She has over a decade of experience caring for patients with cancer across both urban hospitals and rural outreach clinics, where she works to improve access to cancer awareness, early detection, and treatment.

She completed her MBBS from Bangalore Medical College, MD in Pediatrics from PGIMER Chandigarh, and DM in Medical Oncology from Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bengaluru, where she received academic gold medals. She is also MRCP (UK) certified in Medical Oncology.
Alongside clinical practice, Dr Aparna is deeply committed to patient education and public health communication. She believes that empowering individuals with clear, compassionate, and culturally sensitive health information can reduce fear, encourage early detection, and improve long-term outcomes.

She is the author of the bestselling Kannada book Cancer ge Answer and it’s English translation’Answering Cancer’. She writes the weekly public health newsletter The Cancer Compass, where she shares practical health guidance, survivorship insights, and reflections on living well beyond illness.
Through her writing and clinical work, Dr Aparna hopes to help women build a calm, confident, and lifelong relationship with their bodies and health.
She lives and practices in Karnataka with her family and continues to work toward making cancer awareness accessible across languages, communities, and generations.
