Description

The book, PLASTIC FUEL, is an explicit and profound tribute to the pioneering spirit and relentless dedication of the Environmental Scientists, Chemical Engineers, and Waste Management Professionals on the front lines of the global pollution crisis. This commitment is the crucial driving force addressing the existential, vital world problems posed by ubiquitous plastic waste disposal and the subsequent degradation of both terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Serving as a crucial conceptual and technical road map, this book meticulously outlines the complex, thermo-chemical process of waste plastic conversion, detailing the necessary methodologies—such as advanced pyrolysis and catalytic depolymerization—required for the efficient and safe production of marketable liquid hydrocarbons, including low-sulfur diesel, gasoline precursors, and valuable chemical feedstock. Furthermore, its scope extends beyond the laboratory, integrating essential business strategies concerning regulatory compliance, investment models, and critical policy frameworks necessary for large-scale adoption and integration into the circular economy. This comprehensive approach is designed to empower those dedicated professionals, enabling them to successfully transform a pervasive global environmental crisis into a fully functional, profitable, and sustainable, scalable energy solution for the 21st century.

About the Authors

Professor Pradip Lingfa stands as a towering figure of intellectual rigor and dedication, recognized throughout the academic community as an extremely high-thinking academician and a remarkably prolific writer. It was during his extensive and impactful tenure at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) in Arunachal Pradesh that he established a foundation of tremendous research and teaching experience. His work spanned the critical domains of Biofuels, Renewable Energy, and, Plastic Fuel Technology. Though his professional path mandated a change in focus, Professor Lingfa embraced a highly demanding administrative capacity as the Chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). Leveraging limited free time and an unwavering commitment to research dissemination, Professor Lingfa continued his academic pursuits by initiating a powerful collaboration with Dr. Awinash Kumar, an expert researcher specializing in thermal energy conversion (ME) based at the Ramchandra Chandravansi Institute of Technology in Palamu, Jharkhand. This collaborative bridge demonstrates a significant cross-regional commitment to addressing national energy security issues. This joint academic effort culminated in the publication of the seminal reference title, PLASTIC FUEL. This book has been universally recognized as a major milestone in the literature of sustainable energy and resource management. Crucially, PLASTIC FUEL builds directly and substantially upon the foundational knowledge and process details established in their earlier, highly successful joint publication, WASTE PLASTIC OIL, solidifying their reputation as leading authorities in the practical application of waste-to-energy conversion systems.
