Description

Medicinal chemistry, as a formal discipline, has its roots
in the ancient practice of herbal medicine, where natural
substances were used for therapeutic purposes.
However, it wasn't until the 19th and 20th centuries, with
the development of modern chemistry, that the science
of medicinal chemistry began to take shape. Early
pharmaceutical development was primarily based on
trial and error, with compounds isolated from plants and
animals being used to treat various ailments. The first
significant breakthrough came in the 1800s with the
synthesis of quinine, the first synthetic drug used to treat
malaria.

About the Authors

Dr. Dev Prakash Dahiya
currently working as Professor& Dean in School of Pharmacy, Abhilashi University, Mandi (H.P). He has done Diploma in Pharmacy, B. Parmacy, M. Pharmacy, MBA (HR) and Ph. D. He is having vast experience of 24 years in Academics as Professor, Principal, Dean & Director in India and abroad. He has completed his education from College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal. He has completed his research degree and Doctorate under the guidance of Prof. K. K. Shrinivasan MAHE Manipal. He has published around 102 review and research papers in Peer reviewed National& International Journals and 25 abstracts.

Dr. Chinu Kumari
currently working as Professor in Faculty of Pharmacy, Abhilashi University, Mandi Himachal Pradesh. She has done B. Pharmacy, M. Pharmacy (Pharmacology), PhD (Pharmaceutical Sciences). She has more than 10 years experience in Teaching. She has published more than 35 Research and Review Paper in various UGC care journals. She has also Presented Paper and Attended so many conferences and seminars. She also has 2 Patents.

Ms. Megha Chandel
currently working as Assistant Professor in Faculty of Pharmacy, Abhilashi University, Mandi Himachal Pradesh. She holds B. Pharmacy degree from Dreamz College of Pharmacy affiliated with HPTU and M. Pharmacy (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) from Shoolini University, Solan. She has established herself as a dedicated educator and researcher with over 4 year of Teaching experience.
