Description
Among the millions who perished during World War -I, were thousands of Indians, including non-combatants, who played vital roles behind the front lines. These individuals, often overlooked in the broader narratives of the war, faced immense hardships and dangers.
The combatants carry and operate weapons whereas the non-combatants play a supportive but very crucial role. They do not carry any weapons either for attacking the enemy or for defending themselves from enemy assaults.
This compilation explores the contributions and sacrifices of Indian non-combatants in France during World War I, highlighting their roles, the conditions they endured, and the impact of their service and above all, preparing a Roll of Honour of those who died in France during WWI.
This is a modest attempt at highlighting their role and paying them a respectful homage.
