"Abhishapta Dwarapala" (ଅଭିଶପ୍ତ ଦ୍ଵାରପାଳ) is the story of three incarnations of Jaya and Vijaya, the doorkeeper duo of Vaikunthapuri, the abode of Lord Vishnu. While the first two incarnations (Hiranyaksha Hiranyakashyipu and Ravana-Kumbhakarna) are narrated in Volume-I (ପ୍ରଥମ ଖଣ୍ଡ), the last incarnation as Sishupala-Dantabakra has been narrated separately in this Volume-II (ଦ୍ଵିତୀୟ ଖଣ୍ଡ). The Volume-I contains a treatise on 'Vishnu Purana' as well as 'Ramayana' and this Voume-II includes 'Sri Krishna Leela' . The narrations in these Volumes are spell binding. The text transports the reader into a virtual world of the context and makes him feel the proceedings as an eye-witness. These books must be read to be believed. The creation is unparalleled and there has probably been nothing of this kind in Odia literature till date. The book is further enriched liberally with illustrations of 'Odishi Patachitra', through which the various sequences of the great epics come alive in the reader's mind.
Unbelievable!
If you haven't read this, you have read nothing. If you want to start reading Odia, start with this one. Nice hard binding, great finishing. One hell of a book to keep at home for generations. No better way to learn about the legacy of Lord Sri Krishna!!
