For good anticipation there is no substitute for experience. Therefore, sportsmen must
participate in many competitions and should face different opponents and situations.
B. Selection of Correct Response
This involves the process of selection. This depends on the ability of the sportsman to decide
which will be the best response. In order to save time and to respond quickly it is better to
link certain signals with certain responses. This can be done by devising appropriate drills
and letting the sportsman practise these again and again. These drills, however, should not be
highly automatized otherwise the sportsman is unable to change the response if the situation
so demands. Quick selection of correct response depends to a great extent on the experience
of the sportsman. In addition, it is also determined by quick thinking, correct perception of
the situation, emotional control and creativeness.

Dr. Mukesh Kumar currently holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Education at PGDAV College, University of Delhi, located in New Delhi, India. With over 9 years of experience, Dr. Kumar obtained his education from SBAU, Amravati University. He has published 11 research papers in reputable peer-reviewed, UGC-CARE, and Scopus-listed journals, as well as authored 4 books within the sports field. Additionally, he has contributed book chapters to edited publications and has been an active participant in numerous national and international conferences, serving as a resource person in webinars, seminars, and workshops.

Prof. Joseph Singh is the Dean (Academics) at the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) in Gwalior, India.
