North-East India, often referred to as the ‘Seven Sisters’ along with Sikkim, is a
region of diverse cultures, rich natural resources, and strategic geopolitical
importance. It comprises eight states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur,
Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim. This region is characterized by
lush green valleys, forested hills, and numerous rivers that contribute to its
biodiversity and ecological significance. Despite its cultural richness and strategic
location, the region has historically faced challenges in terms of infrastructure,
connectivity, and integration with mainstream development.

About the Author

I am Dr. Oinam Sadananda Singh,NET(UGC),M.Phil.,Ph.D. an Assistant professor in
department of Political Science, G.P. Women's College, Dhanamanjuri University
(DMU), Imphal. I have many publications in national and International peer reviewed
journals including Scopus indexed journals and UGC care listed journals and also
contributed book chapters. I have also attended many nationaI and international
seminars.I have teaching experience of more than 7(seven) years in both Undergraduate and Post- Graduate level in Dhanamanjuri University . Presently, There are
four Ph.D. research scholars working under my supervision. I have been honoured
many awards for my excellence in academic works.
