Dr. Prasun Chowdhury is an esteemed academician and researcher currently serving as an Associate Professor and Head of the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Department at St. Thomas' College of Engineering & Technology (STCET) in Kolkata. With over 16.5 years of extensive experience in teaching and research, he has established himself as a prominent figure in the fields of broadband wireless communication and the Internet of Things (IoT). Dr. Chowdhury holds a PhD and a Master of Engineering from Jadavpur University, specializing in Broadband Wireless Communication. His scholarly contributions are significant, including the prestigious URSI Young Scientist Award received at the RADIO 2014 conference in Mauritius. He is also a prolific inventor, holding several patents, such as a German Utility Model for a machine learning-based thyroid profile estimation system and an Indian patent for a "Smart Cradle". A dedicated member of the global engineering community, Dr. Chowdhury is a member of the IEEE Kolkata Section and serves as the Advisor for the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) Students branch at STCET. He has authored numerous research papers published in reputed international journals and conferences, and has contributed several book chapters to leading publishers like Springer. His research interests continue to drive innovation in AI enabled smart city solutions, biometric systems, early detection of human diseases and advanced queue scheduling for wireless networks.
