Description

This foundational chapter establishes the theoretical and practical groundwork for understanding
quantum-resilient cryptography in the modern digital landscape. Beginning with an examination of
contemporary cryptographic systems and their role in securing digital infrastructure, the chapter
progresses through the emergence of quantum computing as a transformative yet threatening
technology. The analysis encompasses the fundamental differences between classical computational
security and quantum cryptographic approaches, providing readers with essential context for
understanding the paradigm shift required in cryptographic thinking. The chapter culminates in defining
quantum resilience and establishing the urgent timeline for post-quantum security implementation,
setting the stage for detailed technical exploration in subsequent chapters.
