Microorganisms
are present everywhere on earth which includes humans, animals, plants and
other living creatures, soil, water and atmosphere. Microbes can multiply in all three habitats
except in the atmosphere. Together their numbers far exceed all other living cells on this planet.
Microorganisms are relevant to all of us in a multitude of ways. The influence of
microorganism in human life is both beneficial as well as detrimental also. For example
microorganisms are required for the production of bread, cheese, yogurt, alcohol, wine, beer,
antibiotics (e.g. penicillin, streptomycin, Chloromycetin ), vaccines, vitamins, enzymes and
many more important products.
Dr Sangram Singh Patel, MD (Medical Microbiology),has done his MD in prestigious SGPGIMS, Lucknow. He has worked as senior resident in SGPGIMS, Lucknow and faculty in Rewa Medical College and Hind Medical College. He has published research articles ( 40), poster presentation (5), national Conferences attended (8), Workshop attended (6), Symposium attended (4) book chapters (2).He has worked as nodal officer of NMC of institute. His contribution regarding establishment of Microbiology Laboratory in trauma center is exemplary. He has organized many CMEs especially in leptopsirosis and other febrile diseases. He has done pilot study in diagnosis of HPV in urine samples in high risk cervical carcinoma cases in women. He has guided many MD and MSc students and got intramural and extramural projects. He is presently working as an Associate Professor (Microbiology) at SGPGIMS, Lucknow. His research interests are infectious diseases, rare bacterial pathogens, purulent infections, genomic surveillance, HPV
Dr.Chinmoy Sahu, MD (Medical Microbiology), PDCC (Infectious diseases) published research articles (90), poster presentation (15), national Conferences attended (23), Workshop attended (6), Symposium attended (10) book chapters (6). He worked as a senior resident and faculty in SGPGIMS Lucknow. Dr Chinmoy got award as best MD thesis. He has got many intramural ( 5) and extramural projects ( 2). He got award as best research paper in 2023. His work during COVID-19 is exemplary. He has organized many CMEs and workshops especially in antibiotic resistance. He is presently working as an Additional Professor (Microbiology) at SGPGIMS, Lucknow. His research interests are infectious diseases, antibiotic resistance, genomic surveillance.
Dr Awadhesh Kumar, MD ( Medical Microbiology) has done MD ( SGPGIMS, Lucknow). He has worked as senior resident (SGPGIMS Lucknow) and faculty in MahamayaRajkiya Medical College, Ambedkar Nagar. He published research articles ( 40), poster presentation (5), national Conferences attended (8), Workshop attended (6), Symposium attended (4) book chapters (2). He has done exemplary work in COVID-19 in IITR Lucknow and Ambedkar Nagar for which he has received award. His work on dengue sero-surveillance in various districts of UP is praiseworthy.He has guided many MBBS, MD and MSc students and got projects. He has done many administrative work in institute. He is presently working as an Assistant Professor (Microbiology) at SGPGIMS, Lucknow. His research interests are infectious diseases, malaria, cysicercosis, inflammatory bowel disease etc.
