Mammogram and the Mantra: A Must Read

Courage and resilience against all odds. A fighter showing the way through her own vulnerability.

Beautifully blending spirituality and science, Mammogram and the Mantra takes you through moments of fear, strength, reflection and faith.

What also stands out is the humility of a medical professional sharing her own journey as a patient, with honesty and a touch of self deprecating humor.

It is about facing what life throws at you, drawing strength from within and from those around you, and moving forward.

Above all, a story of hope, come what may, with timeless wisdom as the guiding light and the comforting realization that you are never alone.

A book that stays with you long after you finish reading it.

When the Bhagavad Gita meets a cancer journey

I have known people who have undergone chemotherapy, and I thought I understood what they were going through. After reading Mammogram and the Mantra, I realized how little I really knew.

Dr. Asmeeta Punwani takes the reader through her cancer journey with such honesty and vivid detail that you can almost feel what she experienced. Her descriptions are visual and sensory, with metaphors that bring her experiences to life. She describes pain as a hammer crashing through every bone in her body, one by one, followed by the feeling of a truck driving over her—not once, but repeatedly. I got chills trying to contemplate the level of pain she must have experienced.

She is equally candid about the tumultuous nature of her emotions, moving between fear, hope, faith and uncertainty. Her ability to relate these experiences to teachings from the Bhagavad Gita, and to show how spirituality helped her face her fears, makes this much more than a cancer journey.

Great Read - brings Medicine, Spirituality & Reality together

The Mammogram and the Mantra brings together two worlds that are rarely explored side by side: the clinical reality of illness and the emotional and spiritual journey that accompanies it.
Being a Doctor herself, Asmeeta Punwani’s writing is honest. She highlights the uncertainty, fear and vulnerability that can accompany a medical diagnosis and explores these experiences with remarkable openness, allowing the reader to see not only the physical challenges but also the inner transformation that can take place during difficult times. The title reflects the realities of the body co-existing with faith.
Even for non-believers, this book shows us how to tackle life and find strength when unexpected things happen to us, particularly to our body.
The Bhagvad Gita is often described as a difficult subject; Asmeeta has made is accessible without being sentimental. It also shows us that the human mind is infinitely capable of miracles and self-healing.

Inspirational and Life Changing!

This book changed me in ways I didn't expect. I've never read the Bhagvad Gita and don't know much about it but the way the author has explained each lesson is so easy to understand and relate to your own life! This book truly taught me that no obstacle is too hard to overcome if you have faith. A must read for everyone!
