Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a politician as well as a poet. He was the leader of the Jan Sangh parliamentary party for twenty years continuously. Was also twice elected to the Rajya Sabha. Atal ji was elected the Prime Minister in 1996. He was sworn in as Prime Minister again on April 19, 1998, and under his leadership, a coalition government of 13 parties touched many dimensions of progress within the country in five years.
अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी राजनीतिज्ञ होने के साथ-साथ कवि भी थे। वे बीस वर्ष तक लगातार जनसंघ के संसदीय दल के नेता रहे। दो बार राज्यसभा के लिए भी निर्वाचित हुए। अटल जी ने 1996 में प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में देश की बागडोर संभाली। 19 अप्रैल, 1998 को पुनः प्रधानमंत्री पद की शपथ ली और उनके नेतृत्व में 13 दलों की गठबंधन सरकार ने पाँच वर्षों में देश के अंदर प्रगति के अनेक आयाम छुए।
