Pimples reflects the supposed imperfect life of a young girl in the east side of Nigeria; Ngwa in Abia State. Slaved by the stigma of her geographical location and physical attribute, the red balloons that had burst on her face; she lived in a world she knew nothing about.
In search of a standard teenage hood, Nene became a slave of her own self. She admired every person except herself. The same experience is with many persons. Since the society we live in have placed a physical key holder to attracting beautiful people around yourself, it becomes even more difficult to sort out what is valuable and not. Beauty comes from within. Capacity is beauty. Smile is beauty. Many things are beauty.
The story in Pimples portrays how truly we become beautiful just when we believe it and act it. That people call you a mad woman is not a reason to wear torn clothes walking around the street to affirm that truly, you are mad.
There is no one definition of beauty. Create a beautiful you.
Wow. This book just boost my self-esteem! It makes me feel like I am not alone. Our society have not only put a definition on beauty but we human beings also. It is unfortunate but I am glad for a book like this.
Thank you.
A companion for any lady battling with a low self Esteem
I like the way the author introduces the character and makes us walk through her life as she rises above her fears.
It's a good piece and I read it all in one sitting as I found it so catchy and consistent. I could not afford a break.
