Ever since humans appeared on earth, they have been intrigued and awe inspired by the natural phenomena that they see around them. Phenomena such as the daily rising and setting of the sun; the moon and the stars; periodic waxing and waning of the moon; periodic changes in seasons; birth, growth, decay and death of all living beings and plants and trees awe inspire them. They are also inquisitive to know if this universe is finite or infinite or just very big. Moreover is this universe ever- lasting or just long lived? How it originated and who created it? Humans have natural urge to ask such questions and search for their answers.

Starting with simple models and simplistic explanations, humanity feels that it now reasonably understands most of these phenomena even though our knowledge in this regard is still far from complete. In acquiring this knowledge, humanity has been aided by developments in different fields of science, religion and philosophy. However as yet it is not the end of the road, and we still do not have satisfactory answers to many of the questions.

Like others, the author has also been inquisitive in finding answers to such types of questions. In the present book he has tried to share with readers his views on such types of topics that he has been able to form on the basis of his interaction with different sources of information that have been available to him. It is hoped that these will interest inquisitive readers also who like him are curious to know answers to such types of questions.
