A family bonded together by love is ripped by the cold and silent swing of death – the death
of a husband and father. A new widow is made from the relics of this loss and she sees life
from divergent vantages both as both a Mother and a custodian of a bereaved household. In a
fleet of times, through labour, tears and pains, through many silent nights and troubled
days, she sees the unripe hours of old age. She bears the pain like sun-baked earth with her
silence within, a heart of grief and slowly she tries to unleash this silence until she is no more.

About the Author

About the author
ChimaUgokwe is a Nigerian writer. He is the author of the award-winning Igbo novel Iwe Nwanne Anaghi Eru n’Ọkpụkpụ, which won the ANA/ZIK Prize for Indigenous Literature and Folded Into Silence which won the Wordinaction International Prize for Drama, England. The 2015 Commonwealth Youth Fellow, he has won numerous awards in writing including Princess Hastrup Prize for The Best Researched Work, Nigeria 50 Stars @ 50 Award for Nigeria’s Golden Jubilee Anniversary; Rotary Club India Award for Excellence in Writing; 2010 Commonwealth Club London Award For Young Writers Achievers For The Nigeria’s Golden Jubilee; Pendlewar Poetry Writing Competitions, England and INDIAFRICA Awards. Described as 'Most Awarded Young African Writer' by Talbus Literary Magazine for winning over 36 awards before he turned 30, he is a recipient of the 2011 Ebedi Writer’s Fellow and 2018 Spanish Language Ambassador in Nigeria.
