I came to know Rabindranath Tagore at my early youth, somewhere in my 10th Grade. We read his poems translated by Russian poetess A..Akhmatova, V Tushnova and lots of others. The popularization of Tagore’s poetry hindred the relatively small amount of the good translation. Surely they tried to convert them from English into Russian. But in their case, it was just a mere translation from English into Russian. But nevertheless, I was fascinated by those amazing poems. I swallowed those poems at one breath.
The destiny or the predestination, God knows, let me know you, Deepankar. You were the first, to give me the chance to see the depth and the beauty of Tagore’s poems. Surely, there might be lots of other poets, but it was you, who transferred me the original meaning and the colorful beauty of his strings, you showed me the perfection of his poetic lines, the richness and expressive means, i.e, you showed the high mastery.
Thank you…
