Naru embarked on a cerebral journey spanning his entire life. That journey began to uncover the true meaning of the word ‘Bangal’. Applying information from various sources, he was able to arrive at a rational interpretation of that word. He was able to associate the word Bangal with a unique geographical feature of the region now known as Bangla, alias Bengal. In ancient India, geography had the greatest influence on place-naming, as he was able to learn from various sources as well as realise during his own cerebral journey.
The word 'Banga' is at the heart of the word Bangal and that of the many other related words. A search for the root of that word takes the journey deep into the past to a phase of history where documentary evidence is lacking. Naru felt a tremendous attraction towards that world.
Any evidence-based journey into Bengal's past comes to a screeching halt about 5000 years before the present time. Before that time, most of the territory known as Bengal was a maritime region. Naru felt that he had managed to overcome that seemingly impenetrable barrier. The mountain, whose presence in his mind's eye he saw in the centre of the Bengal basin, he recognised as the fabled mountain of Atlantis. That hypothesis has the power to rationally solve many enigmatic representations, starting from the origin of the word Bangla, which are intimately connected with the traditions of Bengal and India but remain unexplained to this day.
This book, the fifteenth part of the book series titled 'Origin of Bangla', is an account of a fictional journey related to the possible origin of the word Bengal.
