Dr. Aroop Chatterjee, born in June 1980 is a promising and talented tabla player of his generation. He belongs to the cultural capital of India - Varanasi. He was blessed to have learned Tabla from Pt. Chhotelal Mishra, who was an exponent of Banaras Gharana
He has done his doctorate of philosophy in “ Critical Analysis of Gats in Banaras and farukhabad Gharana “
Among his numerous achievements, he is ranked As ‘B high Grade’ Artist of A.I.R ( Akashvani, All India Radio) by The Government of India.
Dr.Aroop Chaterjee has given Concerts Across all the Major venues and prestigious Music festivals of India
Aroop Chatterjee also Holds the prestigious Title of ‘ Taal mani ‘ Award; A percussion award which is given by the Sur Singar Samsad Parishad, Mumbai, 2007. He also Received the State Scholarship by the Cultural Department of the U.P in the year 1992- 1994.
