Through this book the author is introducing you to two important antimalarial compounds from plants namely quinine from Cinchona and artemisinin from Artemisia annua. All the details about these plants and their use in malaria treatment are given. Hydroxychloroquine which is derived from quinine is in the news for it’s role in COVID-19 treatment and Artemisia extract is being considered as a herbal cure for COVID-19. Details of their use in this treatment are also given. The author has done research on artemisinin as part of his postdoctoral research.

About the Author

Dr. Jose Kudakasseril is a scientist and a teacher. He took his doctoral degree in Botany from the University of New Hampshire, USA. His post doctoral research was on an antimalarial compound called Artemisinin which was done at University of Minnesota, USA. He has taught at various institutions such as Kenyon College, Ohio, USA and K.C College, Mumbai. He has worked at the Unilever Research Centre in Mumbai and at the Central Food Technological Research Institute in Mysore, India. He is now teaching at Brilliant Study Centre, at Pala, in Kerala, India
