About the Author

About the Author
Nisha Jagadesh is a Computer Science engineer by education and a seeker at heart. With over 25 years of experience in the IT industry and a career that took her across many countries, she lived a life full of accomplishments, family, and responsibilities. But, about a decade ago, something stirred within her — an inner calling that gently redirected her steps toward India’s ancient spiritual heritage.
Her first love became travel — not just to new lands, but to the timeless sanctuaries of India: temples where the air itself seems charged with energy, the Himalayas where silence speaks, and sacred gatherings like the Kumbh Mela that pulse with devotion. These journeys were not about escape, but about rediscovery.
What began as a simple 30-minute daily practice of the Isha Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya soon blossomed into a full three-hour sadhana each day. Rather than taking away from her life, this practice infused the remaining hours with efficiency, clarity, and joy. The busyness of work, the responsibilities of home, and the flow of everyday living remained unchanged — but the way she experienced them transformed. Life became not a list of obligations, but a dance of love and energy.
Alongside her practice, Nisha immersed herself in trekking the Himalayas, experiencing their indescribable serenity, spending time with Himalayan yogis, and studying scriptures — from the Vedas and Upanishads to the Gita and Yoga Sutras. What began as curiosity became devotion. What began as practice became life itself. Her journey eventually led her to pursue advanced study, completing a Master’s and a Ph.D. in Ayur Yoga in her 40s.
Today, Nisha humbly says she does not “practice” yoga anymore — yoga has simply become who she is. This book, Encyclopedia of Indian Scriptures, is her heartfelt offering: a way to share the treasures she has discovered in a simple, engaging Q&A format, hoping to spark curiosity and pride in India’s spiritual heritage.
Her journey is not about renouncing life but embracing it fully — with joy, with love, and with the spirit of yoga woven into every moment. Through this work, she extends a warm Namaskaram to every reader: may you discover the richness within and be inspired by the timeless wisdom of our sages and scriptures.
