About the Authors

Dr. Yogendra Pathak Viyogi has been with the Department of Atomic Energy at Kolkata centre for the last more than 40 years. Retired in 2012, he is presently working there as Raja Ramanna Fellow and is contributing to the India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO) project, which is the biggest basic science project in India jointly supported by the Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Science and Technology.

He has been working at CERN in Geneva (Switzerland) for the last quarter century and was leading a team of Indian scientists engaged in the study of quark gluon plasma, a form of matter supposed to have existed in very early universe.

Dr. Viyogi was Director of Institute of Physics Bhubaneswar during 2006-2009 where he was instrumental in setting up the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER).
