An anthology of short stories, most of them based in Kerala; echoing the culture and lifestyle of that state.
Kerala has probably the largest population of any state in India, going out of the state to seek a livelihood, whether to other parts of India or even abroad like the Gulf, the Americas and even Australia. Having lost touch with their native language and roots, the younger generation is curious to read and understand the culture and traditions of their native state but are unable to as they do not know the local language, Malayalam; hence this anthology of short stories in English, trying to capture a bit of the essence of the Keralite culture in a language understood by most Keralites outside the state.
Most of the stories are based in a fictional village named Kochumury. Karimeen is the name of the most popular and tasty fish, known to all Keralites. The very name tickles the taste buds in most Keralites and also arouses nostalgia and a longing for everything native; hence the title of the book. One story also has the fish, karimeen as the pivotal character.
