Self knowledge is a constant process of understanding and so there is nothing like an end to it. It comes about when one begins objectively and goes deeper and deeper into the whole problem of daily living with conflict. Life is action in relationship between you and me and the contents of the mind are revealed only in the mirror of relationship. So don’t avoid relationship, don’t escape from the world because they are the greatest opportunities to do self-inquiry. Kindly don’t think living in isolation and sitting cross legged and trying to do self-inquiry is childish. The learning in self-inquiry is through awareness but not from repetitive activity which memory cultivates which leads to conflict, dullness, insensitivity of mind. We have to observe the contents of the mind without interpreting, verbalizing, censoring, choosing. The observation of a scientist is pure, he never tries to manipulate what is seen. He just note down the facts of his observation. Similar scientific attitude is required in self-inquiry, observing without the interference of ego. Here in the very observation action takes place because once we observe that ambition leads to destruction we never go after it. If we do self-inquiry with passion giving our whole energy to it we comprehend the whole fragmentary activity which is leading us to sorrow and misery. There is no basis for our thought and action if we do not know “who we are”. Self-inquiry does not solve our problems on a retail basis, it helps us to know that we are not the mind and in that revelation a great transcendence happens and we touch the mystery and message beyond the mind. Suddenly all problems becomes insignificant and slowly they evaporate. Then an existential order happens to our mind and wherever there is order there is love. So self-inquiry leads a life of love. When there is love in relationship this very earth is heaven. When there is no love in relationship this very earth is hell which is the case now. So do self-inquiry and claim the heaven which is your birth right.
