WELDING FOR RECLAMATION

Description

The reclamation by welding is to repair or to build up the worn out parts to their original size. Reclamation and rebuilding of components is one of the methods to reduce cost of inventory.
Reclamation by welding allows customers to reuse rather than replace at a higher cost. The industrial spares those are subject to wear and tear often fail. Reclamation / repair and rebuilding make spare serviceable and extend its service life.
While reclamation welding, care should be taken so that the job should not lose its original properties.
Reclamation of spares is essential for running an industry.
The material in this book has been presented for the guideline and general information for the maintenance engineers. It should not be used for the specific applications without taking final advice / approval from competent person.

Tech. paper selected for poster presentation during International welding Conference – 2008 which was held at Graz (Austria). Tech. paper presented during Sixth Asian Pacific International Welding Conference – 2008 which was held at Tianjin (China).
Several technical papers published in various journals and magazines.
Recipient of Jawahar Lal Nehru Award and Jawahar Award of Bhilai Steel Plant.
Life member of Institution of Engineers (India), Indian Institute of Welding and Indian Institute of Plant Engineers.
Served in various managerial capacities and having vast experience in mechanical maintenance of heavy machines, cranes and machining of various spares of steel industry.
Served in Bhilai Steel Plant as General Manager in Reclamation Shop and looked after entire reclamation activities of steel plant for more than 16 years. Reclaimed spares worth more than INR 500Crores approx. during this tenure.
