I had often wondered;

Who in their right mind would want to be a cricket umpire?

when by a strange twist of fate, I became one myself.

From Sunday village friendlies and the County Championship, to the hallowed turf of the MCG, I umpired hundreds of cricket matches in both England and Australia. I had the best seat in the house, and I met some of the best female cricketers in the world.

STUMPED is a light hearted and amusing memoir. It is a heart-felt dedication to the history and traditions of cricket - the most ancient and complex of past times and without doubt, the greatest game in the world.

And if anyone should ever query that, consider this;

Games have Rules. Cricket has Laws.
