The production of esters has been done using the conventional batch reactive distillation (CBRD) process in the presence of the catalyst, Amberlite. The esterification reaction is performed using the components lower carboxylic acids and alcohols. Parameters such as flow rates and concentration can be studied at different catalyst weight percentages. Alcohol being the lighter of the two components travels up the column and builds composition in a total reflux condition. Water is continuously collected from the distillate which contains the carboxylic acid composition that is to be analyzed for the Total, Free and Poly Acidities (TA, FA, PA) respectively using acid-base titration methods. The semi-batch method facilitates the change in loading of catalyst and flowrates therefore providing a wider scope of recovery studies.
