A collection of short fictions mainly from the perspective of a defiant and disgruntled woman of the Indian society and its various medieval values, the sooner shaken off , the better.
The author Santwana Chatterjee is granddaughter of the well known artist, Sunayani Devi, niece of Rabindranath Thakur, so literature runs through the family. Born on 26th Februarty, 1948 Santwana graduated with honours in Philosophy and completed my M.A [Philosophy] from the University of Calcutta in 1971. Santwana worked with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and retired as an Assistant Secretary in March, 2008.Writing comes naturally to Santwana, however she took to writing after joining ICAI as a Steno-Typist in 1978 ; obviously out of frustration. Santwana has been writing in both English and Bangla . Her first publication was BHAVNA, a book of poem for children in Bangla ( 2002) and the second, a book of short stories in English entitled ‘Madhouse’ (2008) by pothi.com. Apart from this many of her short fictions/ poems have been published by the Statesman, Telegraph, TOI, Femina and SUKTARA.
