About the Author

S. Seenivasagan, a distinguished alumnus of the prestigious Madras Institute of Technology (MIT), Chennai, has an illustrious career spanning 45 years, including 33 years in government service and 12 years in the private sector, culminating in his retirement in 2009 upon reaching the age of 70. His tenure at the Telecom Research Centre (TRC) was marked by significant achievements, most notably his leadership in the indigenous development and manufacturing in India of state-of-the-art PCM Mux and Digital Muxes essential for digital transmission and the digitization of the Indian Telecom Network in the mid-1980s.

His pioneering work in using VLSI technology in telecom equipment and his contributions to saving approximately Rs 500 crore in foreign exchange by halting imports in 1985 earned him a nomination for the prestigious Padma Shree Award. Known for his passion for technology, Seenivasagan is remembered as an expert in Transmission, Switching, and Signaling—a rare feat not achieved by many. His expertise and dedication also led him to represent India in numerous international telecom forums, embodying his belief that "Knowledge is Power."
