Shri Sarit Kumar Sen was born in Calcutta. He had inborn
talent for painting, sketching. His family did not encourage him to
develop his talent into his profession. His curious mind made him
a book lover too. While studying in college he used to publish hand
magazines along with his friends. He loved travelling. Whenever
he travelled he had his camera, sketchbook and painting materials
with him.
He was a science graduate and worked as a paper
technologist. He used to find time to sketch and paint in the midst
of his busy work life. He would sketch images of mundane life and
describe them as well. He loved nature and animals. He would
closely observe the animals at home. His pen and pencil sketches
of the animals lucidly described their behaviour too.
Shrimati and Shri Sarit Kumar Sen raised the squirrel,
named Chipoo, like their own child. Shri Sarit Kumar Sen closely
studied his behaviour and that is the subject of this book.
