Description

What happens when power must choose between legacy and truth?

On a storm-lashed Monday night in the Caribbean, a wealthy matriarch summons her fractured family, political elites, and trusted advisors to a private palace for what is announced as a birthday gathering. By midnight, her will is to be revealed—an act that will decide the fate of an empire built across ports, resorts, and political alliances.

Before the night ends, a man is dead.

As suspicion spreads through candlelit halls and whispered deals unravel behind locked doors, the gathering becomes something far darker than a family dispute. Hidden resentments, unspoken debts, and carefully preserved secrets surface, exposing how inheritance, power, and silence often work together to protect institutions rather than people.

At the center of the unraveling is a truth no one present is prepared to face:
what is legal is not always just—and what is inherited is rarely innocent.

Blending political intrigue with psychological depth, The Monday is a tense, atmospheric thriller that explores the cost of authority, the fragility of moral compromise, and the quiet violence of decisions made in the name of stability. Told through shifting perspectives and restrained intensity, the novel examines how systems of power survive not through force, but through complicity.

This is not a story about who inherits wealth.
It is a story about who inherits responsibility.

About the Author

Vijay Dias is a novelist and global leadership practitioner whose work explores power, responsibility, and the human cost of silence. Drawing on more than two decades of international experience across diverse cultures and complex institutional environments, his writing reflects a deep understanding of how systems function—and how individuals navigate them when moral clarity is tested.

He holds an MBA from Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom, and his professional journey has taken him across the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Russia, and India. These cross-cultural experiences have shaped his interest in authority, legacy, and the unseen dynamics that influence decision-making within organizations and societies.

The Monday marks a convergence of his long-standing engagement with questions of leadership and accountability, translated into a work of fiction. Rather than offering answers, his storytelling examines moments of pressure—when power shifts, silence carries weight, and choices reveal their consequences.

Vijay’s approach to writing is reflective and disciplined, favoring restraint over spectacle and moral complexity over simple resolution. His work invites readers to observe closely, question assumptions, and consider what remains when procedure ends and responsibility begins.

He lives with his wife, Sheela, and their son, Juan, and continues to write at the intersection of human behavior, ethical tension, and narrative depth.
