Queen Vasavadatta becomes a tool in the hands of king Udayana's minister, Yaugandharayana, who draws an elaborate plan to help his king regain his kingdom by forming an alliance with another powerful ruler. How the plan is successfully implemented resulting in a happy ending is what the story is all about.
