First and foremost, let me describe to you what the term "Before you chew that gum" means. I have drawn an analogy between chewing gum and marital bliss.
Marriage appears to be a romantic fantasy at first – a delicious gum. These delusions melt away with time, revealing the reality behind them. This is what happens when the gum loses its taste and becomes stretchy.
