‘Gift of God’ is based on the masterpiece DASBODH, captured in a scene where Samarth Ramdas is advising the Youth. After reading a plethora of holy books, Samarth decides to create a short Summary so that Youngsters who do not have the time, patience or the resources to read all these books, can benefit too. The Dasbodh is based on these timeless, invaluable gems, as quoted by Samarth himself:
Upanishad,
Ved & Vedanta,
Shruti,
Shiv Gita,
Ram Gita,
Guru Gita,
Garbh Gita,
Uttar Gita,
Avadhoot Gita,
Bhagvata Gita,
Bhramha Gita,
Hans Gita,
Pandava Gita,
Ganesh Gita,
Yama Gita,
etc.
However, the Dasbodh was written around 1654. The Youngsters then are no longer Young. In fact, I would be surprised if any of them are alive today in the first place :)
Secondly, the original Dasbodh has 20 Parts, each with 10 Chapters. That’s 200 chapters! Each chapter has about 70 verses. So that totals to a mammoth 14000 verses!!!
Now, what about the Youth of today? 370 years later? I am sure they would not have a fraction of the patience of those “Youth” of 1654! Hence the “Gift of God”, which you can say is a shorter Summary of our Ancient Masterpieces.
Great insights
