This book contains scanned images of poems & essays in Bengali and English, originally handwritten on foolscap-size sheets of paper in the early 1900s by a fairly well-known doctor of Kolkata during his adolescent days. The poems reflect a spectrum of emotions like elegies, lyrics, ballads, soliloquy, love, humor, sorrow, and imagery. Some of these writings were published in newspapers or magazines during those times. The doctor's son, who is the compiler of this book, happened to find the browned and brittled sheets in his home on a bookshelf that is normally not accessed. The sheets had miraculously survived the family's many relocations through the years. So these have now been scanned; and English translations for the Bengali poems have been diligently added to ensure that cultural nuances associated with the Bengali language do not get lost in translation.
