In her first job Jaya had accidentally called herself a product manager without really knowing what the role meant. Not many people, especially in India, knew either. But that led to an interview with Google and finally an entry into Google's APM program. Product landscape and product management have changed and evolved a lot since then.
Through her work in her own company Pothi.com, and later at startups like Meesho, Bright Money, and moEVing, besides multiple consulting assignments, her product career has seen this landscape evolve.
This book is a part of her initiative The Practical PM, which provides product management consulting to companies and educational content to individuals looking to be better product managers. The book delves into the fundamentals of product management that have served her well. The hope is that it lets some young potential product managers make a more systematic journey towards (or away from!) product management than her own had been in the beginning.
