Some people think that I Am Stupid (IAS) to join Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and take VRS prematurely before Superannuation.
The Indian Administrative Service is called an All India Service but in reality, it is not an All Indian Service. It is actually a Service governed and controlled by a State Government called as Cadre Controlling Authority. It is the successor of Indian Civil Service (ICS) which was the legacy of Colonial British rule in India.
It was my father's wish that I should become a Collector, that too expressed very late by him. By that time, I was working as a Scientist in Defence Electronics Research Laboratory, Hyderabad which was a non transferrable job and deals with colleagues and machines (in my case Microprocessors & Computers only).
I was selected to Indian Administrative Service and I will be going to become a Collector of the District one day. But my father was no more to see his wish realized, he expired before my interview.
This is the work of DIY (Do It Yourself). I typed, formatted, designed the cover and published myself.
Of late, someone said that IAS means I Am Sorry (IAS) and some others said it means I Am Safe (IAS). Nearly after twenty three years in it, I can say that I Am (not) Stupid (IAS) rather I should say that I Am Servant (IAS) of the people whom I administered.
