The author, Jayanth Munigala was born into an agriculture family in Kamanapalli village, Adilabad (now Mancherial) district, Andhra Pradesh (now Telangana) State.
He had his schooling in Government Primary School, Kamanpalle, CSI Primary School, Luxettipet and Wesley Boys Multipurpose High School / Wesley Junior College, Secunderabad. He got National Merit Scholarship for the marks secured in Secondary School Certificate (SSC - 1970) of Andhra Pradesh.
He did his Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) from College of Engineering, Osmania University, Hyderabad.
He worked as Scientist in Defence Electronics Research Laboratory (DLRL), Hyderabad from 1980 to 1986.
He was selected to IAS in 1986 and served in various capacities in Government of Bihar, Government of Jharkhand as well as Government of India.
He took VRS in 2009 on personal grounds and settled at Secunderabad, Telangana.
