Description
Having worked across manufacturing, services, consultancy, and education, I’ve witnessed the same story repeat in different costumes: people measure outputs but ignore the hidden leakages; they talk efficiency but forget effectiveness; they chase top-line growth and bleed through operational waste.
This book, "Cut Cost at Every Cost," is not about penny-pinching or reckless austerity. It is about cost consciousness—a mindset of eliminating waste, utilising resources fully, and challenging every assumption behind so-called “standard” costs. It is about questioning, observing, and improving with humility and courage. From 5S to Kaizen, from AI-based inventory planning to simple check sheets, the tools are many—but the mindset must be one: own the cost.
I’ve written this book for practitioners—shopfloor engineers, supervisors, cost accountants, managers, and even frontline workers—who know that saving a rupee without hurting quality or delivery is not just a win, but a contribution to sustainability, competitiveness, and job security.
If this book gets even one team to stop and ask: “Why are we doing this this way?”, I would consider the effort worthwhile.
Jitendra M. Pant is a lifelong learner, mentor, life coach, trainer, cost -conscious practitioner and founder of JMPS Health & Education Care Foundation, with over five decades of experience across operations, manufacturing, quality, and people development. A graduate of IIT Delhi, his deep expertise in Operations Management—with special focus on cost control, Kaizen, quality systems, capacity utilisation, inventory optimisation, and productivity enhancement—has impacted people and processes across geographies and industries. Throughout his career, Jitendra has believed in one core principle: "Talk does not reduce cost—action does."
Whether working on shopfloors, leading Kaizen workshops, or mentoring young managers, he has always asked:"What cost are we carrying unknowingly—and what are we doing about it?"
His professional journey has taken him from India to Japan, Korea, Kenya, England, and Scotland—where he has seen how small savings, done consistently, lead to big transformations.
As the Founder of JMPS Health & Education Care Foundation (a registered Section 8 company with 12A and 80G recognition), he now mentors underprivileged students after Class 12—guiding them to choose that leads to real careers. The NGO also supports dialysis patients and physiotherapy programs for the needy, applying cost-sensitive planning to make health care more accessible.
Jitendra is the author of 15+ self-published books, each rooted in real-life problems, shopfloor insights, everyday wisdom, and the belief that cost is not just financial—it’s emotional, social, and systemic. His titles include: Operations Management Demystified; 5S- The First Step to Operations Excellence; Kaizen Catalyst; Problem Solving; Time Management; No; Confidence Building; Nano Insights; Wisdom in Verses; Baby Mira Eight weeks Memoir; Anyone who can walk is my fitness hero; 25 Lessons from Uncommon thoughts; Don’t Blame, If You Have to Blame, Blame Yourself; Go to Gemba: The Power of Genchi, Genbutsu, Genjitsu; Born Again at 75; Doing-Do as you say and say what you do, and more are in process.
His current work, Cut Cost at Every Cost, is not a plea to slash cost sacrificing quality, but a call to cost clarity—to see hidden costs , to understand there is a huge cost of poor quality, challenge assumptions, prevent waste, practise frugality, add Value, use practical tools, and stop the silent leakage of money, energy, and time.
Jitendra lives in India, draws joy from his grandchildren in Singapore and the U.S., and continues to mentor young professionals to “do more with less, but do it better.”
