The plot of the novel deals with the religious riot that occurred in the southernmost part of India in 1982 which went on to impact the other regions in India as well. It further highlights the inter-religious conflicts entangled with the fictional story of love and violence. It is a historical fiction trying to bring back the memories of the past with the first person narration involving multiple characters and subplots. There is an exhibition of a colourful relationship between a father and a son, a father and a daughter, a brother and a sister, a mother and a daughter, friends, and ex-friends, etc. It sketches a fine portrayal of life and the culture of fisher-folk and their day-to-day struggle with the sea and also the never-ceasing fights fought over the mechanism of fishing and family feuds, inviting political interference.
