We are all wearing perception goggles. Some of us have a darker tint, some of us have the blue and green shiny ones, some of us have the baby pink version with neon frames, but all of us are wearing one. The type of goggles you have impacts your ability to perceive the world differently from its true nature of reality. Even though goggles is a term associated with one’s vision, perception goggles apply to all senses. The governor of the five senses is your mind’s eye, which does not have a lid to be shut and is not present in the physical three-dimensional world. It is an organ that transcends the known three dimensions and can be compared with the idea of experiencing feelings, thoughts and emotions which are not physically present in the material world and cannot be measured in quantity but can be felt to the deepest parts of your body and its bones. In ancient cultures, the mind’s eye was represented as the third eye on specific deities’ foreheads and was weirdly called the eye of knowledge and the eye of destruction at the same time. I could never understand this spiritual oxymoron until... Actually, in a way, everything in this world is an oxymoron at some point or another. Hermes said, “Like and unlike are the same; Opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; Extremes meet; All truths are but half-truths; All paradoxes may be reconciled.” Da Vinci said, “Everything is connected to everything else,” which is another way of expressing it.
Our world is a game of egos and not a game of information. Your ego looks at everything through its own lens. It accepts the information that nourishes its identity and rejects the information that damages it. This is the root cause of the rampant hypocrisy in the world. Let’s be honest: to be successful in this society, you have to be a hypocrite to some degree; you have to be an actor. A person who tells the absolute truth is always hated because most people are not seeking the truth; they seek nourishment for their ego, which is developed by systematic programming. Truth rips the ego apart and makes you naked in front of your own eyes. Ego is the shame covering up this nakedness of truth. People are not seeking the truth; they seek nourishment for their egos.
I will say a few absurd things in this book according to your understanding of reality but don’t discredit the book right away. Have patience, read the chapters in their order, and all the absurdity will come together and make perfect sense at the end. Truth, religion, and science are concepts that are not mutually exclusive, and hence, neither a religious nor a scientific perspective is helpful while searching for the Truth.
