The book is for people retiring from service/profession or already retired for preparing their life
after retirement. Retirement is arguably the biggest transition one ever had in one’s life. There
are few critical milestones in life, and retirement from service/profession is one such
milestone. Suddenly, one is required to adapt to a new lifestyle with 8 to 10 extra hours. Also, one
loses the perks and position and company of colleagues. If one is not prepared to adapt to this
change and does not remain physically active and mentally engaged, it leads to frustration and
depression and quality of life deteriorates. Alternatively, if one is prepared and clear about life
ahead, it is a great opportunity to bring improvement in quality of life due to the following reasons:
1. One can be free from Stress associated with service/professional life.
2. One can fulfil his/ her passion/hobby, which is compromised due to professional
pressure.
3. One can regain/recover health damage due to professional life stress.
4. Many times, one cannot observe work-life balance in professional life and it adversely
impacts relationships. Post-retirement: One can repair/nurture relationships.
5. One can share his/ her experience and wisdom gained over the years in making a positive
difference to others and making our society/ world better. One can leave a positive legacy.
If I have to convey this in numbers, one can take the quality of life to 90 to 95 % by adopting
right lifestyle and healthy habits post-retirement.
